Project Management Basics


The Project Management Basics training outlines the basics of project management. It provides the framework and key techniques needed to manage projects or participate on project teams. Participants will learn how to manage project scope, schedule, budget and resource constraints. This course does not make use of any project management software application.


 
Participants completing this course will be able to:
  • Understand the benefits of using a light project management approach
  • Develop a simple yet comprehensive charter and project plan
  • Identify work packages, schedule tasks and pinpoint resource requirements
  • Apply light risk management techniques
  • Monitor the project during execution
Course topics:
  • Initiating the project: the one-page project charter
  • Planning the project: work breakdown structure (WBS), schedule, risks
  • Managing project execution: deliver work packages and manage issues
  • Monitoring project progress: analyse and report project status
  • Closing the project: bring the project to an orderly end
To facilitate achievement of course objectives, we use the unique TeamProsource-developed Practical Project Management Roadmap as a practical guide for project initiation and planning.

Course participants will receive a binder with full-colour presentation material (ppt format)
